NFL writer urges Miami Dolphins to sign former 1,000-yard receiver

The Miami Dolphins already have one of the NFL’s best receiving tandems in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, but they could use some depth behind them.

NFL writer urges Miami Dolphins to sign former 1,000-yard receiver

The Dolphins apparently know this, as they met with Odell Beckham Jr. within the last couple of weeks and offered him a contract, but Beckham turned the deal down.

There are still some other wide outs available that Miami could potentially sign, and Dallas Robinson of Pro Football Network thinks it should go out and get Tyler Boyd.

Boyd is surprisingly still remaining on the free-agent market in spite of coming off of a productive 2023 campaign with the Cincinnati Bengals in which he played every game and caught 67 passes for 667 yards and a couple of touchdowns.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Pittsburgh, was selected by the Bengals in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

After a couple of rather uneventful seasons to begin his career, Boyd broke out in 2018, catching 76 passes for 1,028 yards and seven touchdowns. The following year, Boyd was terrific again, hauling in 90 receptions for 1,046 yards and five scores.

Boyd has not reached the 1,000-yard mark since then, but he has hit over 800 yards twice, most recently doing so when he snared 67 balls for 828 yards while reaching the end zone five times in 2021.

It should also be noted that Boyd has been Cincinnati’s No. 3 receiver behind Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins for each of the last three years, which explains his dip in statistical output.

There is no question that Boyd is a reliable option in the aerial attack, and he could fit very nicely into a Dolphins passing game that is already lethal.
