Seahawks add to d-line as injuries take their toll during camp

The Seattle Seahawks are just days into the full contact portion of training camp, but minor injuries have already forced the team to add depth on the defensive line. Dre’Mont Jones has missed a handful of practices while dealing with a hamstring injury, while second year man Mike Morris left practice early Monday and was absent Tuesday.

5 Burning Questions For Seattle Seahawks Defense Entering Training Camp

As such, ahead of hitting the practice field Wednesday, the Seahawks added depth to the defensive line by signing rookie free agent defensive tackle Rodney Mathews.

Mathews signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in the spring, however he was waived in May when the Packers signed Specer Waege. At Ohio Mathews played in 41 games during a four year career, recording 71 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and a trio of sacks after transferring from Hutchinson Community College.

To make room on the roster for Mathews, the Seahawks waived undrafted free agent linebacker Easton Gibbs.
