Let’s rewind the clock back to 2022 when Romeo Doubs found his way to Lambeau alongside Christian Watson and Samori Toure. Davante was long gone and Rodgers was losin his mind saying he needs consistency from the new crop of receivers.
We all waited to see if Gutey had brought in a cavalry, or a room full of rookie busts.
Romeo wasted no time turning heads in that rookie camp. Check out this tweet from Andy Herman in July of 2022.
Romeo Doubs is turning Packers Twitter into a bunch of Juliet’s because there’s a lot of Romeo crushes going on right now.

Fast forward to 2024, and I think Romeo Doubs is serendipitously wearing #87 on his jersey.
His consistency and reliability for Jordan certainly harkens back to a farmer that used to sport that there number on his back once upon a time…
“He Catches More Balls Than Anyone In This Building..”
Coming into training camp the narrative across the league for the Packers receiver room basically came down to this.
“The Packers have a deep crew of #2 Wide Receivers, but no clear WR1”
Romeo my not have the break out numbers like other wide receivers in the league. However, he is consistently productive and clearly has spent these last 2 seasons honing in his craft.
The Packers depth at receiver also skews those numbers. Jordan tends to spread the ball around meaning there’s not as many targets to go around, thus resulting in lower numbers than say a Justin Jefferson or Davante Adams. I believe that in another locker room, Doubs could be an immediate WR1.
Take it from my favorite Packer aka Ja$ aka Packers CB1.
Jaire Alexander on Romeo Doubs: ‘His attention to detail is very on point’
Matt LaFleur had this to say the other day about Romeo’s performance so far in training camp.
“How he prepares, very deliberate. Takes coaching, you can coach Rome very hard. Night and day better than when he was a rookie.
Ability to get off the ball, he’s a great route runner, takes a lot of pride in his routes, very strong hands, he catches more balls than anyone in this building, pre and post practice. He’s always working…it’s not a shock to me. The guy puts in the work and you’re seeing the benefits of that.”
Here’s a little preview of TDs incoming from Romeo Doubs in 2024.
Romeo Doubs AKA Mr. Reliable
Some things never change in Green Bay. The quarterback is elite. The offensive line is looking stout. We are all biting our nails hoping the defense we keep hearing about in camp shows up in season……
Most importantly, that age old tradition of “draft and develop” has begun to take shape in year 3 with Romeo looking to establish himself firmly as a leader in the building, and a threat to defenses around the NFL.
Just listen to how Jordan Love has spoken about Doubs recently. He did an interview with Bleacher Report a couple weeks back, showcasing players in the league he would choose for an unstoppable play.

Seeing that Jordan puts Doubs alongside the likes of Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce speaks volumes to how he views his talents and play making abilities.
“I’m gonna put Romeo Doubs on there, just cause I mean that’s one of my favorite fade targets. Whenever I throw it up to him, he is going to come down with the ball, I know that 100%…“
Jordan and Romeo are starting to build that chemistry with one another in the same way Aaron Rodgers did with Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams. It’s also very clear how much Romeo appreciates his QB1. Check out this post practice presser, delivered in that low key temperment only Romeo can display.
The Packers 2024 WR Room Is Deep
The good news is the regular season is right around the corner. This is offically the last week of the year (minus the BYE of course) without Packers football for the remainder of the year. We have made it through the offseason “Dead Zone”.
I know I know….
Looking ahead to the 2024 season, I believe that Romeo will cement himself as Jordan’s WR1. I’ve talked with multiple beat writers in the Packersphere that agree with the sentiment that Jordan seemingly now views Romeo as his security blanket.
The general consensus over the last 2 seasons has been that when healthy , Christian Watson is the clear WR1 in the building. I have gotten a lot of crap for it, but I have never been as high on Christian as every one else. That’s not to say that I don’t find his talents amazing. I think he’s got amazing speed and can be a serious deep threat.
If his medical journey in Madison has truly corrected his injury issues, and he goes and balls out, I will happily eat my words!
I just think there’s more reliable talent on the roster. I think Jayden Reed is the most versatile wideout on the team and can offer that Deebo Samuel HB/WR dual threat. Here’s a clip of Jordan finding him in the middle of the field at training camp.
I also believe Tay Wicks may just be Davante Adams 2.0. Just watch Wicks’ release against Rochell from practice the other day. That stutter step release is almost identical to Adams, whom he’s been very vocal about modeling his game after.

Romeo Doubs Is Him
Doubs showed all last season that he can come up clutch when Jordan needs him. Click the link below for a refresher on what he’ll building on in 2024.

In a room stacked with weapons, Romeo offers familiarity and dependability. Romeo also just happened to catch Jordan’s first TD pass as a full time starter last season. That play (shown in the YouTube clip below) shows Doubs offering up something the Packers have sorely needed in recent years. A legitimate threat in the red zone.
Off the field, Romeo is a humble, kind, and focussed individual that carries the “G” in stride.
Doubs is currently on fire at training camp and I am here for it. I can’t wait to see him ball out this season.
I know we are ALL waiting to hear CheeseheadTV‘s Aaron Nagler shouting this in the coming months….
