Matthew Stafford left outside of top 10 QB’s in Madden 25

Individual player ratings in Madden 25 for the Los Angeles Rams haven’t played out as expected. The ratings are being released slowly by position. At receiver, Cooper Kupp (88 overall) edged out Puka Nacua (84 ovr) though it’s mildly surprising neither cracked the 90 mark.

Rams Madden 25 Ratings: Matthew Stafford doesn't make top 10 at QB - Turf Show Times

On Friday morning the quarterback attributes were released, and LA’s Matthew Stafford was left outside of the top 10 at the position:

1 – Patrick Mahomes, 99 OVR; Kansas City Chiefs

2 – Lamar Jackson, 98 OVR; Baltimore Ravens

3 – Joe Burrow, 93 OVR; Cincinnati Bengals

4 – Josh Allen, 92 OVR; Buffalo Bills

5 – Dak Prescott, 90 OVR; Dallas Cowboys

6 – Tua Tagovailoa, 88 OVR; Miami Dolphins

7 – Justin Herbert, 87 OVR; Los Angeles Chargers

8 – Jalen Hurts, 87 OVR; Philadelphia Eagles

9 – Brock Purdy, 85 OVR; San Francisco 49ers

10 – Kirk Cousins, 84 OVR; Atlanta Falcons

11 – Aaron Rodgers, 83 OVR; New York Jets

12 – Matthew Stafford, 83 OVR; Los Angeles Rams

13 – Jared Goff, 82 OVR; Detroit Lions

Rams fans will probably be surprised at Prescott slotting in seven spots ahead of Stafford and within the top five. Prescott was vying for the MVP award towards the end of last season before late struggles against the Bills and Dolphins effectively ended his bid.

Other mild surprises include Tagovailoa, Hurts, Purdy, and Cousins being ranked above Stafford on the list. While Hurts impressed over the 2022 season, both he and the Eagles took major steps backwards last year. You could form a solid argument that Tagovailoa, Purdy, and Cousins are in part products of the strong collective talent and play callers in their offensive environment. Stafford individually creates more on his own than we’ve saw from these other players.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that Stafford ranked only a single point higher than former Rams QB Jared Goff in this year’s version of Madden. Of course, Los Angeles traded two first round picks and some change in order to swap Goff for Stafford back in 2021—and seeing these quarterbacks in a similar light just a few years removed is a stark change from that moment. In the 2023 version of the game, Goff was initially rated higher than Stafford. Goff ranked 13th in both years, while last season Stafford was a measly 75 overall and ranked 22nd at the position.

Is the Madden franchise lower on this year’s Rams team than fans expected? How do you feel about their evaluation of Stafford relative to the other signal callers in the NFL? Let’s discuss in the comments section.
