Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic Closes In on Wilt Chamberlain Record After James Harden-Like Triple-Double Feat

Luka Doncic has been so dominant on the court this season, especially when it comes to getting triple-doubles. But after a recent game against the Golden State Warriors, the Dallas Mavericks All-Star guard is nearing a Wilt Chamberlain record, thanks to a James Harden-like performance recently.

Just recently, Dallas visited the Dubs at the Chase Center and lost to them in a 104-100 game . Andrew Wiggins had a big night for Golden State by posting 23 points on 50 percent shooting. However, the duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson scored 13 and 14 points, respectively, on inefficient ratings from the field.

The Mavericks, on the other hand, had a monster performance from Doncic when he posted a triple-double of 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists in 39 minutes on the floor. Kyrie Irving connected 52 percent of his field goals to notch 27 points, while PJ Washington added 20 points of his own.

The win helped Golden State create enough distance between them and a surging Jalen Green-led Houston Rockets team. The loss, meanwhile, have placed the Mavs in a tie with the New Orleans Pelicans for the fifth seed with 45 wins and 30 losses.

Dallas Mavericks Luka Doncic Moves Up All-Time Triple Double List After Loss to Golden State Warriors

Luka’s triple-double against the Dubs, his 20th this season, has moved him up the ladder in all-time list of this certain category. In a post shared by Grant Afseth on X:

“Luka Doncic recorded his 76th career regular-season triple-double, tying James Harden for the 8th most in NBA history. He needs two more to tie Wilt Chamberlain for 7th on the all-time list,” Afseth tweeted.

If Doncic surpasses Chamberlain in the near future, he’s going to need another good run to overcome the next player on the list – Jason Kidd’s 107 triple-doubles. After that, there’s LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson, and Russell Westbrook on the top.

With Doncic putting up a show on a nightly basis, it’s not hard to see why the Mavs are surging in the standings. Expect the Dallas star to take his game to the next level once the playoffs begin.
