Davante Adams endears himself to NY Jets fans with latest comments

Many NY Jets fans are still holding out hope that their favorite team will trade for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams, reuniting the six-time Pro Bowler with Aaron Rodgers in Florham Park.

And as rumors continue to swirl around a possible Adams trade, the All-Pro wide receiver recently did his best to endear himself to Jets fans with his comments about a pair of the team’s AFC East rivals.

In a recent appearance on First We Feast’s “Hot Ones” show, Adams was asked which NFL team has the worst fans. Without hesitating, Adams listed a pair of the Jets’ biggest rivals, the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills, along with the NFC East’s Philadelphia Eagles.

Adams was particularly harsh toward Bills fans, who he claimed lacked respect toward players. He specifically cited the fan base’s tendency to chuck snowballs on the field.

“All the snowballs and all of that during the game, that’s just a lack of respect for another man. You paid to come to my game and you’re more focused on hitting me with a snowball?”

It’s certainly interesting that Adams chose to highlight fans of teams that were never really rivals of the three-time Pro Bowler in the NFL. While his fellow wide receiver, Amon-Ra St. Brown, trashed his rival Green Bay Packers on the same show, Adams took a different route.

He didn’t criticize any current AFC West fan bases. He didn’t even attack any NFC North fan bases. Instead, he called out two teams from the AFC East.

Of course, Adams has been heavily connected to trade rumors over the last few months, dating back to the middle of the 2023 season. While the Raiders have publicly insisted that they have no plans to trade Adams, that hasn’t stopped the two sides from metaphorically flirting.

Rodgers has been vocal about his desire to play with Adams again one day. Adams has made it clear that he would welcome a reunion with his former QB, although he’s publicly stated his desire to stay in Las Vegas.

An Adams trade is unlikely to happen before the start of the 2024 season, but it’s very likely these rumors will persist until the trade deadline in early November. There’s a real possibility that Adams could be traded midseason if the Raiders struggle to begin the year.

For now, the Jets and Adams remain forbidden allies, but it’s clear there’s mutual interest in a future pairing. Adams is already doing his part to win over the Jets’ fan base.
