1A. The more I see of training camp, the more I’m convinced Kenny Gainwell is going to not just have a role on offense but have a significant role. And that’s not a knock on Saquon Barkley. If anything, I get the sense Kellen Moore believes that giving Gainwell, say, seven or eight touches per game will help Barkley stay healthy and explosive the entire season and help keep defenses off-balance. Even in 2019, Ezekiel Elliott’s biggest season in Dallas with Moore as his offensive coordinator, Tony Pollard got seven touches per game and had 562 scrimmage yards. I think this year goes the same way. Gainwell is having a very good camp, and he’s a guy who’s just been consistently solid since he got here – 4.3 rushing average, 86 catches and 1,500 scrimmage yards as a backup. This is a contract year for Gainwell and considering Howie Roseman’s track record re-signing running backs – he never does – and Gainwell’s desire to be a RB1 somewhere probably his last year here. But expect it to be a good one.

Kenny Gainwell. The running back seems to be figuring out Moore’s offense well and he has looked very good in it. He hasn’t caught a touchdown pass since his rookie season, and that remains his only one. That very well could change, because he was utilized in the red zone during the team’s first day drilling that part of the field on Tuesday and looked very good. Gainwell has had some decent camps in his previous three seasons, but this one seems his best, yet. Perhaps he is extra-motivated in a contract year, though he does have 11 rushing touchdowns in three seasons, a high number considering that Hurts is the main rushing TD-maker in this offense.

Well, it didn’t take long for the Philadelphia Eagles to address their tight end depth after they waived/injured McCallen Castles earlier on Saturday. The Birds claimed undrafted rookie Kevin Foelsch off waivers from the New York Jets, according to an official announcement. For those wondering, there is no relation to Nick Foles.

Dak Prescott believes “the money is out there” regarding a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys. Meeting with the media Friday at the Cowboys’ training camp Prescott discussed the status of his contract negotiations with Dallas. He also addressed recent comments he made stating that he has an “obligation” to both his teammates and the rest of the NFL quarterbacks when it comes to that contract. Asked by ESPN’s Todd Archer about that obligation, Prescott gave a lengthy answer and noted that “the money is out there” for a deal to be made.

On Friday. the Dallas Cowboys absorbed a few injury-related situations as tight end Luke Schoonmaker and safety Israel Mukuamu both exited early. Schoonmaker is of interest in this area as the Cowboys have seen him deal with a variety of things in his first official offseason with the team. Dallas drafted Schoonmaker out of Michigan in the second round last year and saw him play sparingly as a rookie. He had shoulder surgery to begin the offseason and missed OTAs with a hamstring issue. We have more detail about Schoonmaker’s current situation pop up on Saturday. While Mike McCarthy mentioned that he would be back on Monday (the Cowboys are off on Sunday) it was reported that the tight end is dealing with a groin injury and is day-to-day.

Stock down. Jack Stoll — Theoretically, Stoll is in competition with Chris Manhertz for a role as a blocking tight end. It hasn’t looked like it. While Manhertz had rotated in with the first team every day, Stoll has worked with the second and third units.
