A former Boston Celtics first-round pick came up clutch during “The Basketball Tournament” with a $1 million shot to win the game.

Jared Sullinger, who was playing for Carmen’s Crew, played hero in the tournament — commonly known as “TBT” — to give his team the 69-65 win and $1 million team-wide prize. Carmen’s Crew is made up several former Ohio State players.

TBT is a single-elimination tournament that featured 64 teams. After 17 days of games, it was Carmen’s Crew that came out on top with a lot of help from Sullinger — who named the MVP after Sunday’s victory.

Drafted by the Celtics in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft, Sullinger spent his first four seasons in the league with Boston. He left the organization after the 2015-16 season to test free agency and latched on with the Toronto Raptors.

Sullinger was traded to the Phoenix Suns in February 2017 and was released the next day. He then elected to play overseas in China. He spent a season in the Korean League in 2021 and helped lead Anyang KGC to a championship. The 32-year-old returned to the Shenzhen Leopards of the Chinese Basketball Association in December 2021.

Carmen’s Crew win marked the second time the team won the tournament. They earned their first championship in 2019.
