It’s been over a decade since Garcelle Beauvais finalized her divorce from her ex-husband, Mike Nilon. After going their separate ways following their emotional split, they did manage to develop a healthy co-parenting relationship to raise their twin sons, Jax and Jaid.
Despite Garcelle being at peace with ending things between her and Mike, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member now shares what she regrets from their divorce.
In the latest episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast (clip above), Garcelle sat down with host Alex Baskin to discuss her marriage and how her love story began. For their candid chat, she’s joined by BFF Sutton Stracke, who also details her own divorce struggles.
Garcelle Beauvais reflects on her relationship timeline with Mike Nilon
While Garcelle and Mike decided to end their love for good in 2011, the RHOBH ‘Wife revealed on the Hot Mic podcast interview the pair “broke up” once before they married.
The reason? Well, Garcelle admitted that she came to a “crossroads” in her relationship after her ex told her marriage wasn’t “part of his five-year plan.” At the time, Garcelle and Mike’s decision to part ways affected them, as well as her eldest son, Oliver Saunders (from a previous relationship). “You know, I remember he was crying, I was crying, and Oliver was crying,” Garcelle told Alex and Sutton. “It was really kind of sad.”

At the start of their conversation, Garcelle explained the length of her marriage to Mike. “I was married almost nine years,” she said, adding, “I should’ve waited for the tenth year.”
Immediately, Sutton jokingly intervened to tell Garcelle that she “should’ve talked to [her]” because she would’ve suggested to “hold out” from separation until another year.
Although Garcelle is regretful of filing for divorce so soon in her former marriage, she blamed the rash decision on a “problem” of hers, saying, “I move too quick.”

Currently, Garcelle is not married. “The love life — I’m working on it,” Garcelle shared during a BravoCon panel in Las Vegas in October 2023. “What I try to do is prioritize what’s really important to me, and although I would love to have a partner and I go out on dates, I have a small window with my [sons] and it’s really important.”
