Miami Dolphins center Aaron Brewer left a training camp practice Wednesday after appearing to injure his right hand, according to multiple reports. He later returned to the field, but didn’t participate for the rest of the day.
The severity and nature of the injury are not yet known.
Brewer, 26, signed with the Dolphins earlier this year on a three-year, $21 million deal, making him one of the most significant acquisitions of the offseason for Miami. He spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans where he was a starter at guard in 2022 and center in 2023.
Earlier this week, the Dolphins released their first depth chart of the year with undrafted rookie Andrew Meyer listed as the second-team center behind Brewer. However, it was a versatile veteran Liam Eichenberg who took over for Brewer on Wednesday. Eichenberg has been in competition for starting guard duties.
Any significant injury along the interior of the offensive line would be costly for the Dolphins, who lost guard Robert Hunt and center Connor Williams in free agency. Miami signed Brewer to fill one of those holes, but are likely relying on some combination of Eichenberg, Isaiah Wynn, and Robert Jones to handle starting guard duties.
