Jets Surprisingly Activate Key Offensive Player

The 2023 NFL season was supposed to be a breakout year for the New York Jets, with the team acquiring quarterback Aaron Rodgers in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers.

Unfortunately for New York, disaster struck right out of the gate in Week 1 against the division-rival Buffalo Bills, with Rodgers going down with a season-ending Achilles injury that derailed the season before it even really began.

Although Rodgers’ injury short-circuited the 2023 season, there’s a lot of optimism heading into the 2024 campaign, with Rodgers fully healthy and the Jets making some key additions on both sides of the football.

One of those key additions is veteran wide receiver Mike Williams, who could become part of a wide receiver dynamic duo in New York and another consistent target in the passing game for Rodgers.

However, Williams was working to get back on the field, with Rodgers saying last month that his new wideout is ahead of schedule in his rehab from a torn ACL injury suffered last season with the Los Angeles Chargers.

That was proven to be right, via Paul Andrew Esden Jr. of Heavy on Sports.

“Mike Williams was just activated off of the PUP list more than a month-plus from the start of the 2024 season,” Esden wrote. “This is excellent news and a pleasant surprise.”

With the Jets having dealt with multiple injuries that ruined the 2023 campaign, this is a promising sign for the start of the 2024 NFL season, and they’ll hope to be as close to 100 percent as possible for the difficult opener at the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 9.

The real question moving forward is whether the Jets will be able to live up to expectations and become a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the AFC and compete with the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens.
