As we creep closer to the 2024-25 NBA season, we have gotten our first peak at the schedule. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported the NBA’s slate for Christmas Day, and it features the Sixers. It was revealed that they’ll be going up against the reigning champion Boston Celtics in what looks like the third game of the day.
While the times aren’t officially announced, these games typically do take place in the order that Charania tweeted them.
This will be the Sixers’ third straight Christmas game, falling last year to the Miami Heat and knocking off the New York Knicks the year prior.
It will be the fifth Christmas game for Philadelphia in the Joel Embiid era and their second against the Celtics. The two teams met on the holiday back in 2018, where the Sixers fell in overtime 121-114. Embiid had 34 points in that game but Kyrie Irving led all scorers with 40. And in case 2018 still doesn’t feel that long ago, Wilson Chandler started that game for the Sixers and scored 15 points.
So as the schedule continues to leak in bits and pieces we’ll see how many more marquee games this year’s squad ends up with.
