The Baltimore Ravens got faster in the 2024 NFL draft when they selected cornerback Nate Wiggins in the first round. He will be tasked with defending the speedier pass catchers that many offenses now employ, especially when it comes to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1.
Wiggins was asked about his game prior to the start of his rookie season and what he thought of his skills. He said that he doesn’t feel like he’s getting grabby, saying that he’s trying to not rely on his catch-up speed and using his hands better at the line of scrimmage.
“No I really don’t feel like I’m getting ‘grabby.’ I just feel I’m better … I’m trying to work better [by] not using my catch-up speed more, using my hands better at the line of scrimmage now. I’m not trying to use my speed. I feel like that’s what I need to change.”
There is always some level of adjustment when going from college to the NFL, especially when it comes to certain positions. Wiggins will need to adjust quickly, as Baltimore will be in contention for a playoff spot and a Super Bowl all year, assuming things go right for them.
