Aaron Rodgers response sums him up after New York Jets coach refuses to let him practice

Aaron Rodgers is proving to the New York Jets that he’s fully committed and more motivated than ever to secure a win in the 2024 season. This was evident when he resisted coaches’ decision to exclude him from a joint practice with the Washington Commanders.

Despite the challenging conditions at the Jets practice facility on Thursday, with rain persisting throughout the morning, head coach Robert Saleh informed reporters that he had decided to bench Rodgers from the joint practice. However, when he relayed this to the iconic quarterback, Rodgers disagreed and was adamant about participating.

In the end, the coaching staff had their way and kept their quarterback safe. Nevertheless, Rodgers continues to show his determination ahead of the new season.

Rodgers has been noticeably active and expressive in recent days, showing frustration at teammates during training camp, including wide receiver Garrett Wilson and centre Joe Tippmann.

After suffering a season-ending Achilles tendon tear in his Jets debut in 2023, Rodgers seems determined to do everything possible to be there for his team this year. His devastating injury occurred amidst high hopes for the team following his transfer from the Green Bay Packers.

Rodgers’ injury proved too much for the Jets to handle, resulting in a losing season which necessitated changes in the offseason. These primarily involved strengthening their offensive line and enhancing their wide receiver core to give the quarterback the best chance to compete for a Super Bowl.

Despite the challenges of a loaded AFC class, there’s a sense of optimism surrounding the New York Jets camp over the past fortnight, with the team being viewed as playoff contenders.

The upcoming season presents a challenging schedule for Saleh’s team, but their enhanced offensive unit, coupled with a fit Rodgers, has positioned them as the fifth favourites to win the AFC and progress to the Super Bowl.

Rodgers, who is under contract for another two years, has hinted that 2024 could mark the end of his career, with ambitions to secure another Lombardi trophy after his first victory with the Packers 15 years ago.

In his career, Rodgers has only participated in one Super Bowl – a victorious match against the Pittsburgh Steelers – leaving him six behind his former adversary Tom Brady and one behind Peyton Manning.
