Cooper DeJean was prank-called by ‘the Packers’ on draft day

DeJean was peppered by prank calls on his big day, including at least one that pretending he was the Packers’ general manager.

Many Green Bay Packers were hoping that the team would call the name of Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean, who ultimately was drafted 40th by the Philadelphia Eagles, in the first round of the draft. Apparently, DeJean was anticipating that he’d be on the team’s radar, too.

In a recently published YouTube video, DeJean showed a behind-the-scenes look at his draft day experience. Unfortunately, that included a prank caller who tried to ruin his big moment. Someone, pretending to be “Brian” (i.e. Gutkunst, general manager) from the Packers pranked called DeJean several times on Day 1 of the draft, attempting to convince DeJean that the team was selecting him.

On Day 2, the Eagles’ general manager Howie Roseman had to call DeJean three times before he picked up, as the Hawkeyes product thought he was just being prank-called again. If you want to watch the full video, you can find it linked below:

Whoever did this: Shame on you. Be a human. The kid has worked his ass off for years to get to this moment and was surrounded by family and friends back home. Whatever laughs you got from this can’t measure to the stress you caused for someone who wasn’t asking for any sort of trouble. Bum.
