Football is back for the Green Bay Packers! They will have their first preseason game tomorrow afternoon in Cleveland to take on the Browns. Kick off is scheduled for 3:25 PM CST. There is a good chance we see a lot of starters to begin the game for the Green Bay Packers, but this will be a game for the reserves and those fighting for a roster spot. Here is a preview of tomorrow’s game.
How Long Will Green Bay Packers Starters Play?

Matt LaFleur mentioned this week quarterback Jordan Love will be playing. It has not been said how much he will play, but I imagine a number of other starters will see some playing time as well. The hope is the Green Bay Packers have productive drives early on so the starters are able to sit most of this game.
I am not sure how many, if any, Cleveland Browns starters will play tomorrow. The score doesn’t matter in the preseason. It is for starters to get some live reps against players from another team and ultimately prepare for the regular season.
Position Battles Begin
There are a number of position battles going on in Green Bay Packers training camp. Tomorrow will be a good sign to see where they are at with these position battles. We will see a number of different players in the game at some point.
In particular, I will be looking at tackles positions and the kicking competition. I have to think starting left tackle Rasheed Walker will play a few series. With starting right tackle Zach Tom still out, there will be a number of different players at right tackle throughout this game. I see either Andre Dillard or Kadeem Telfort beginning the game on the right side. Dillard could get the nod because of his previous league experience. We should see a ton of Telfort tomorrow at both positions.
It’s been a battle at kicker since the Green Bay Packers signed Greg Joseph in the offseason. Him and Anders Carlson will be splitting the kicking duties likely all preseason. It is unclear if they will rotate or take halves, but this is the most important battle on this roster right now.
Overall
It’s so great to have football back, but you hope there are no injuries in these games. The final score doesn’t matter either.
For how good the Green Bay Packers could be this season, I like that there are multiple position battles out there. The starters are essentially locked in for the most part. However, there are a lot of reserve positions up for grabs and that’s been the case since the offseason began.
One preseason game won’t make or break a position competition or a player. However, momentum does matter and these games can go a long way for a player to make this roster and be a contributor this season. It should be a fun game to watch tomorrow!
