Sixty-two boats hit the water Saturday morning in a quest to make the leaderboard at the lucrative White Marlin Open in Ocean City, Maryland.
Fishing began at 8 a.m. on the tournament’s final day, and scales are open until 9:15 p.m.
The leaderboards were unchanged after Friday, when only 17 boats went fishing, and none of the leaders are on the water Saturday because they already have fished the maximum three days.
Waste Knot, a boat from Raleigh, North Carolina, is the white marlin leader with a 77.5-pound catch holding the event’s top prize of $3.6 million. Ven Poole, of Raleigh, was the angler and reeled in the fish Tuesday.
Stone Cutter, of St. Augustine, Florida, holds $518,000 atop the blue marlin category with an 897.5-pounder, and Blue Runner (Point Pleasant, New Jersey) is in line for $1.1 milliion with the lead in the tuna category with a 220-pound bigeye catch.
Catch 23, a boat owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan and based in Jupiter, Florida, leads the dolphin category with a 32.5-pound catch on Tuesday with a potential prize of more than $124,000. Angler Patrick Field, of Stuart, Florida, reeled in the fish.
Ocean City boats have won the top prize in three consecutive tournaments.
