Chiefs’ rookie RB makes massive impression with must-see tackle-breaking run

The Chiefs have looked anemic offensively in their first preseason game but Carson Steele had a moment in the first half.

Be still my beating heart, am I right?

Chiefs' rookie RB makes massive impression with must-see tackle-breaking run

If you heard a collective swoon in the second quarter of the preseason game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars, we can explain. It was because a certain heroic sounding Chiefs player supplied very real heroics on the field.

Carson Steele has one of the best names in professional football, but as a rookie free agent fullback, he also faces incredibly long odds to make the active roster for the Chiefs. However, the team seems quite high on him and he’s the only one of his kind around, which means if Andy Reid misses going with a fullback into the season, Steele is the man.

Of course, Steele can’t sit around hoping Reid wants a FB, so he took matters into his own hands on Saturday night at EverBank Stadium. On a night where the Chiefs’ offense looked anemic through the majority of the first half, Steele came up with this tackle-breaking run that got everyone in Chiefs Kingdom rather excited.

It’s important to note that the Chiefs have left the door open for someone to really leap into the mix there at running back—even if it’s someone bigger like Steele. They brought back Clyde Edwards-Helaire this spring to back up Isiah Pacheco. They also seem comfortable with Deneric Prince, but that’s no guarantee and other contestants are on the fringe like Steele—e.g. Emani Bailey, Hassan Hall.

Back to Steele’s incredible run. It was only a single play but everyone was loving it on social media for good reason.

It’s not as if Steele needed any help making people swoon in the first place.

Here’s hoping Steele continues to make his presence felt throughout the rest of the preseason.
