One of the themes of training camp for the New York Jets in 2024 has been the struggles of center Joe Tippman snapping the ball. His snaps, particularly in the shotgun have at times been off target.
After yesterday’s preseason win over the Washington Commanders, Tippmann spoke to the press and expressed confidence he has things figured out.
Joe Tippmann said he feels good snapping now — just had to work through some things. No high snaps today.
As for the black eye: Said he got it in practice when someone poked him in eye. Laughed & said it could have happened in the recent skirmish. #Jets pic.twitter.com/tLMqtSgmM4

Unlike many key Jets players, Tippmann did play in the preseason opener against the Washington Commanders but not for very long. He participated in 7 snaps. I didn’t see any inaccurate snaps.
Frankly I would be more concerned about this if Tippmann’s natural position was something else. For example if he had played guard most of his career and was moving to center, this might be an issue.
For a guy who has played center as long as Tippmann and seldom had past issues, this feels like something likely to be resolved quickly.
