The Seattle Seahawks have a young wide receiver by the name of Jaxon Smith-Njigba who looks like he is ready to take a major leap in his second season. On Saturday, JSN played in limited snaps against the Los Angeles Chargers during the 16-3 defensive victory.
While JSN did catch both passes tossed his way for 13 yards, it is not what stood out the most from his preseason debut. Instead, it is what he did as a lead blocker, not a receiver.
Who could have guessed the 6 ft., 197 lb. speedy receiver could do a pretty good impression of a left guard?
Okay, we see you, @jaxon_smith1. 𧱠pic.twitter.com/1fKhN55Xei

While I am sure head coach Mike Macdonald and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb would prefer JSN to not put himself in harms way like that, I am sure they are happy to see players from every position on this team live up to the physical mindset they are trying to build.
However, it is still the preseason. Love the effort myself, but I would rather JSN make his way through these exhibition games in tact. He will be needed more once the Week 1 game against the Denver Broncos comes rolling around.
