Once again, the New York Jets are one of the biggest winners of the offseason.
They kept their core together and addressed their most glaring and evident issues.
Revamping the offensive line was a must, and adding a guy like Mike Williams opposite Garrett Wilson was a nice touch as well.
Nonetheless, HC Robert Saleh already knows what it’s like to be talked about and given the nod during the offseason, and he’s not doing that anymore.
Talking to Eric Allen, Saleh acknowledged that winning the offseason doesn’t mean a thing unless they actually win some football games next season (via Paul Andrew Esden Jr).
The Jets found that out the hard way last season.
They were already talking about Super Bowl parades and whatnot, and their season ended as soon as it started after Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury four plays into the season.
That’s why they’re making sure to keep football first and foremost this time, putting all the talking aside and just focusing on doing their jobs.
Notably, Saleh is going to be in the spotlight from start to finish, and anything short of a deep postseason trip is going to cost him his job.
GM Joe Douglas and OC Nathaniel Hackett could also be on their way out if they underperform this season, as there should be no more room or time for excuses at this point.
They did their jobs in the offseason, and they deserve credit for that, but it will only matter if they win on the field as well.
