Patriots RB Ezekiel Elliott interested in returning to Cowboys

No member of the New England Patriots had more rushing yards or receptions than running back Ezekiel Elliott, and the veteran is reportedly interested in heading back South.

Report: Ezekiel Elliott interested in returning to Cowboys

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Elliott and the Dallas Cowboys have mutual interest in a reunion after the former first-round pick’s lone year in New England.

With the Patriots, Elliott rushed for 642 yards and three touchdowns on 3.5 yards per attempt while bringing in 51 receptions for another 313 yards and two scores.

New England did bring in a veteran running this offseason in Antonio Gibson, who had spent the entirety of his rookie contract with the Washington Commanders. He joins a backfield that also features Rhamondre Stevenson, Kevin Harris, JaMycal Hasty and Ke’Shawn Vaughn.

Gibson can do some of the same things, as he caught at least 36 passes in every season since he entered the league back in 2020.

Still, losing Elliott would take another recognizable face away from the team. With all this money blow, they don’t seem interested in ensuring the roster is marketable.
