While the Philadelphia Eagles’ opponent for the upcoming NFL games in Brazil is yet to be revealed, Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy hinted at playing in the South American nation.

Previous reports suggested that the Eagles will face either the Packers or the Cleveland Browns in the season-opener in Sao Paolo on September 6.

According to ESPN’s Ron Demovsky,’ Murphy pleaded the Packers’ case for the showdown overseas during the team’s annual Tailgate Tour left.

‘We’re either the first- or second-most popular team in Brazil,’ Murphy said.

He then added that the NFL will be making an announcement soon and that his team will be ready if called for the assignment.

Murphy reportedly shared his aspirations for the team to play in front of their Brazilian fans

‘Also, this is very important for the league,’ Murphy added. ‘If we’re chosen, we’ll gladly go.’

It was previously announced that the Eagles game in Brazil will stream exclusively on Peacock.

While Murphy now appears enthusiastic about the idea, his tone has changed since the NFL owners’ meeting in March. Back then, he discussed the logistics and noted how Green Bay’s small airport would put them at a disadvantage in terms of international travel.

‘We’re very supportive of international play,’ Murphy said at the time. ‘The one issue with Green Bay, though, is the size of our airport and the size of our runway.

‘We want to make sure we’re not at a competitive disadvantage in terms of how long it will take us to get to Brazil. There’s some thought we might have to bus to Milwaukee and then fly.’
