Through March, the Commanders have signed 21 players to revamp a roster that went 4-13 during the 2023 season.

Choosing starters from the list of new athletes on Washington’s roster will be a chore first-year head coach Dan Quinn will tackle immediately.

One such signee – former Kansas City Chiefs guard Nick Allegretti – is already setting his expectations for the 2024 season.

Allegretti recently told NFL.com’s Brenna White he came to Washington to “be a starter in Week 1,” via Around The NFL on Twitter.

After five years and winning three Super Bowls with the Chiefs, Allegretti signed a three-year, $16 million deal with the Commanders.

Allegretti started only 13 games with Kansas City, including only once during the 2023 NFL season.

The 27-year-old will spend part of the offseason rehabbing a UCL tear that he suffered during his final game with Kansas City in Super Bowl LVIII.

Prior to becoming a seventh-round draft pick in 2019, Allegretti played collegiately for Illinois.

The Frankfort, Illinois product played in every game for Illinois and started the final 36 games during his Illini career.

Former Houston Texans guard Michael Deiter also signed with Washington during the offseason, adding to the competition Allegretti will face for playing time this year.

Washington’s remodeled offensive line also includes former Dallas Cowboys center Tyler Biadasz.
