The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t want to miss the party.

“BREAKING: The Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up Cuban outfielder Andy Pagés, per sources. He is the No. 94 prospect in baseball, according to @MLBPipeline,” baseball reporter Francys Romero tweeted.

Pages is a 23-year-old outfielder who has grown and adjusted almost every year since joining the Dodgers organization in 2018.

He always had impact power, but ran strikeout rates of significantly over 20 percent in the low minors and all the way through Double-A.

This year, however, Pages made some strides in the contact department and is off to a blistering start in Triple-A, hitting .371/.452/.694 with five home runs in 15 games and 73 plate appearances.

He cut his strikeout rate to a cool 17.8 percent.

That improvement in the contact department could have been what had been separating him from the majors.

Pages is getting a chance mainly because Jason Heyward has been having a hard time getting over a back injury.

He could be back before the end of April, though, so there are no guarantees that Pages will remain in the majors once Heyward is back to full health.

As it often happens in these cases, it will likely depend mainly on him and how he performs and adjusts against MLB pitchers.

He has the talent and the power to leave his mark, even if it is for a few weeks initially.
