The Oklahoma City Baseball Club currently has the Pacific Coast League’s longest active hitting streak on its roster — and it’s not the first player most Los Angeles Dodgers fans would recall.
Drew Avans extended his team-leading hitting streak to nine games Wednesday, the longest hitting streak of the season for an Oklahoma City player and the longest current active streak in the PCL.
Avans is 15-for-39 with four doubles, two triples, and 12 runs scored. With his hit on Wednesday, he moved into a tie for seventh place on Oklahoma City’s all-time career list during the Bricktown era (since 1998), tying Jeff Pickler with 336 career hits.

Norfolk’s Coby Mayo had his 11-game hitting streak snapped Tuesday, so Avans’ streak is now the longest in all of Triple-A.
Avans has recorded at least one hit in 12 of Oklahoma City’s 14 games this season. He has 21 hits on the year in 62 at-bats, including six doubles and three triples. He has scored 14 runs and driven in two. He has walked six times and struck out 23 times.

The Alabaster, Ala., native was selected by the Dodgers in the 33rd round of the 2018 draft. He played collegiately at Southeastern Louisiana.
