In 2022, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was becoming a hot commodity across the NFL.
He led his team to the Super Bowl, where it blew a 10-point lead and lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, and he was the runner-up for the regular-season MVP to Mahomes.
But Hurts took a step back last season, and so did the Eagles, who got trounced in the Wild Card round of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger said per SPORTSRADIO 94WIP that Hurts “needs to be coached hard” if he is to return to form this coming season.
Brian Baldinger on Jalen Hurts under new Eagles' OC Kellen Moore:
"Are they going to coach him hard the way he wants to be coached? Or are they going to be soft on him? I mean he needs to be coached hard, he needs to bounce back. He needs it, he knows he needs it." pic.twitter.com/w1ptOhFWps

Hurts’ numbers in 2023 — 3,858 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, 605 rushing yards, and 15 rushing touchdowns — were excellent, but he threw 15 interceptions, compared to just six in 2022.
The Eagles won 10 of their first 11 games and were looking like arguably the best team in football, but they lost five of their next six games and were clearly limping into the playoffs.
As their descent took place, there were rumors that head coach Nick Sirianni had lost the locker room and that his job was in jeopardy.
The Eagles did give themselves a major shot in the arm this offseason by nabbing star running back Saquon Barkley, and while they traded away pass rusher Haason Reddick, they did bring in Bryce Huff, who is young and emerging.
