Ariana Madix has made a triumphant return to the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway.
The Vanderpump Rules star, 39, reprises the role she initially took on in January and told Playbill, ‘Chicago is the kind of show that, once you’re comfortable with that incredible material, there is so much room to play.’
Ariana – who recently came clean about all the cosmetic procedures she’s had done – will appear in the musical at the Ambassador Theatre through September 1.
‘The first time around, I was in rehearsal for three weeks. This time around, I’m going to have two days,’ she told the outlet. ‘So part of me is trying not to freak out about that.’
And another bonus of being in New York City: she gets to spend more time with her boyfriend, personal trainer Daniel Wai, who is based there.
The Love Island host is looking forward to sinking her teeth into the role of Roxie again.
‘Roxie can be a tough person to like,’ she explained. ‘And something that surprised me was the relationship that formed between the character and myself.
‘I kept finding new ways to root for her…like all the time. I didn’t know that that would have been possible before spending eight shows a week with her.’
The reality TV star also expounded on the element of play in the musical.
‘It’s a facial expression from another actor, or it’s a lengthy pregnant pause in something, or it’s just all these different moments that sometimes the audience is probably not even noticing.
‘But it’s something that you’re doing with each other on stage and it just makes it feel so real. And it makes it so much fun,’ she gushed.
Adds Madix, with joy in her voice, ‘It’s why I love theatre so much. I love that it’s always different.’
While Ariana rose to fame on VPR, he original goal when she moved to Los Angeles with her college degree in theater, was to be a stage actress.
After VPR, Dancing With the Stars, Love Island and Chicago, the sandwich shop owner is looking forward to balancing the different facets of her booming career.
She discussed her run on Love Island, saying, ‘It’s been so much fun. Love Island has been my favorite reality show for many years,” Madix shared.
‘It feels like every time I go into The Villa, we get to play dress up, and just go full tilt with whatever the look is.’
And she added that she did take one lesson from her run on Broadway back to reality TV.
‘I feel like my posture is so much better than it used to be! I’m constantly thinking about pulling up. And I can thank [Chicago Dance Captain] David Bushman for that.’
