On Friday, the Chicago Bears signed rookie cornerback Ro Torrence (6’3”, 204), who played his college ball at Arizona State (2022 and 2023) and Auburn (2021). He started 21 games for the Sun Devils, including the last 14, and was invited to the NFL Combine, but he went undrafted. He was initially signed by the Seattle Seahawks shortly after the 2024 NFL Draft, but they waived him in June.
Our Lead Draft Analyst, Jacob Infante, Tweeted some thoughts on Torrence earlier tonight.
He’s a massive cornerback at 6’3” and 208 lbs with insane length. He’s physical in press along the boundary and maintains good body control jamming near the LOS.
Ball skills and hip fluidity graded below average for me, and his long speed on tape is just alright. That said, his tools make him worth taking a shot on. Could be a strong practice squad candidate.
That insane length Jacob talked about was a wingspan of 80¼” with 34⅛” arms, but a 4.7 forty at his pro day may have dropped him down some draft boards.
To make room for Torrence on the 90-man offseason roster, the Bears waived long snapper Cameron Lyons.
