Per multiple reports, the Cleveland Browns were able to agree to terms on a trade to help the offense. The Browns have been the subject of a few trade rumors in the previous week.
Brandon Aiyuk was reportedly given the option to okay a trade to the Browns. However, the 26-year-old wide receiver prefers his situation with the San Francisco 49ers over the Browns and New England Patriots, another team the 49ers had given Aiyuk the option of being traded to.
The Cleveland Browns lost Luke Wypler to injury
The Browns had other pressing needs on offense following their preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers on Saturday. As previously discussed on GH, center Luke Wypler sustained an injury that will require surgery:
Luke Wypler injured his right ankle with 12 minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter. The medical staff carted Wypler off the field, and they immediately put an air cast on his right ankle. Kevin Stefanski gave an injury update after the game.
“Okay, injury front, you saw Luke Wypler, that was tough, fractured his ankle there so that’s going to require surgery and I’m disappointed for the kid. The goal, obviously, when you get into these games is to get out of there as healthy as you can and unfortunately suffered that one.”
The Browns traded with the Seattle Seahawks
According to Ari Meirov with the 33rd Team, the Browns traded with the Seattle Seahawks for former Cleveland offensive lineman Nick Harris:
Harris and a 2026 7th round pick to the #Browns for a 2026 6th round pick. Harris was previously in Cleveland for three years and signed in Seattle this offseason. Cleveland now gets him back.
The Seahawks recently brought in veteran center Connor Williams. Williams’ signing gave the Seahawks some wiggle room to trade Harris back to the Browns.
Nick Harris will provide crucial depth for the Browns’ OL
The Browns selected Harris in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He’s appeared in 40 games and started in four in his career.
Per Pro Football Focus, Harris earned a 59.5 overall grade for the 311 snaps he played last season. He gave up three pressures and no sacks in the 169 pass-blocking snaps he participated in.
The 25-year-old should provide crucial depth to the Browns this season. The six-foot-one, 293-pound center’s familiarity with the offense should help his case to make the 53-man roster.
