The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to become the first team since the 1960s Green Bay Packers to win three consecutive championships. Their 2024 off-season has been relatively quiet other than moving on from Marques Valdez-Scantling.
While the Chiefs have also added a few weapons on offense, they decided to move on from one.

According to Chiefs beat reporter Matt Derrick:
The Chiefs made room for the addition of TE Geor’Quarius Spivey by waiving TE Izaiah Gathings with an injury waiver.
The injury waiver means that if he goes unclaimed, Gathings becomes a free agent rather than landing on the team’s injured reserve list.
During the past calendar year, the second-year player has played for the Chiefs on a few different occasions. During Super Bowl LVIII, he was on the practice squad and earned his first ring.
Despite joining the team late in training camp and the preseason in 2023, Gathings did not make the 53-man roster. After a successful tryout in December, he was eventually added to the practice squad.
It will be interesting to see if Gathings’ career continues in some capacity with the Chiefs.
