The Seattle Seahawks have gone 18-16 in the two seasons following trading away Russell Wilson. Certainly not the worst in the league, but also not necessarily Super Bowl caliber either. Seattle is hoping that the flashes they’ve seen from QB Geno Smith can be sustainable enough to make a run in the playoffs.
Getting Smith back healthy is one of their top priorities right now, and the timeline for his return to the field was just announced by the team.
The Seattle Seahawks Announce Timeline For Geno Smith Return
According to Ian Rapoport:
After tests on his knee and hip over the past few days, Geno Smith will sit out today. I’m told he’s expected back at practice early next week.
NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Friday that Smith’s knee and hip injuries were not “significant” and that he would not miss any time.
Aside from his role as the Seahawks’ signal caller, Smith’s leadership is crucial to the Seahawks’ success in their first season without Pete Carroll since 2009.
When offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb is on the field, you can feel his presence, according to HeraldNet.
“Certainly Geno, when you’re out there with him, you can feel his presence,” new Seahawks offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb said. “And he does a really good job of that, of commanding the attention of his teammates.”
