Burning Question: Can Jordan Love Lead Packers Over Lions in NFC North?

Jordan Love believes 2024 ‘perfect’ time to win Super Bowl.

The Good, Bad And Ugly From The Green Bay Packers' Win Over The Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions are going to face a worthy challenger in the Green Bay Packers this upcoming season.

Quarterback Jordan Love is seeking to build off the momentum established after winning a playofff game in 2023.

Dan Campbell understands the loss to the San Francisco 49ers was a slight setback, given his team was only 30 minutes from advancing to the Super Bowl.

With a contract extension giving the popular NFL head man more time at the helm, the mission in 2024 is to take another step forward.

“When you get over the licking your wounds a little bit and you really step back and take a look at it for what it is and where you can improve, you get really excited. I got really excited,” said Campbell at the annual league meeting. “So, I feel like every day I’ve just gotten more and more energy back and more and more desire. And I just, I feel like we’re going to be battle-hardened and ready to go.”

Appearing on a recent episode of The Piviot Podcast, Love expressed he feels Green Bay is poised to make a serious run at the Super Bowl this season.

“We’re all very hungry for this upcoming year,” Love said. “The confidence from top to bottom is there. The organization believes that it’s the perfect time to have a chance to win a Super Bowl this year. Those conversations we had after the 49ers game were, ‘Man, work harder. Try and find ways to get better because next year we’re gonna do it.'”

Detroit split the season series in 2023, but were on the losing end of their last meeting at Ford Field on Thanksgiving in front of a nationally televised audience.

“There’s no more,We’re a young team.’ There’s no more of those what ifs. People know what we’re about now. Obviously, we’ll have that target on our back. People want to beat us. We’re hungry. I know everybody in that locker room is hungry and ready to get back,” said Love. “And obviously, we added some key pieces with Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney. So I’m excited. We’re going to have some more pieces coming in with the draft, but I’m excited for me to be able to take that next step. Year 2. For a lot of the receivers, those rookies we had last year to take that step in Year 2.”

Given the Vikings and Bears are likely welcoming new signal-callers to their respective organizations, the NFC North is believed to be a two-team race.

Green Bay is going to be a worthy challenger, but Detroit has all the pieces in place to be worthy of all the pre-season hype that is upcoming.

Among the biggest reason for optimism in Motown is the expected growth of second-year players Sam LaPorta, Brian Branch Jahmyr Gibbs and Jack Campbell.

While the young quarterback is confident, it is quite premature to presume Detroit’s run being the division leader is already over.
