Cam Newton blatantly picks Tom Brady over Patrick Mahomes despite the Chiefs QB’s back-to-back Super Bowl triumphs

The debate between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes seems to be a never-ending one. There is hardly a doubt that both have taken the league to a different level. In a one-on-one debate, Brady beat Mahomes in 2021 and secured the Super Bowl for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, after Mahomes emerged victorious in consecutive Super Bowls, the debate resurfaced.

Analysts also seem divided regarding the choice between Mahomes and Tom Brady. Chris Russo openly claimed Patrick Mahomes was superior, whereas Shannon Sharpe claimed that Brady was a system quarterback while Mahomes could go beyond systematic understanding.

Now, Cam Newton, who always remains in controversy for his outlandish remarks, shared his take on the existing debate. He chose Tom Brady over Patrick Mahomes, in a recent conversation with Shannon Sharpe.

Brady is not minimized to Patrick. I never played Patrick Mahomes. The time I was supposed to play, I had COVID-19. I remember playing Tom Brady when he was in New England. The impact that he had it was like the game was never over. As a quarterback, you never get distracted by the opponent’s offense. I know Patrick Mahomes has that. It is like when he scores you know you have too much time. While Brady, the whole crowd they were down two scores and suddenly ‘Brady… Brady…’ that type of impact. I do not see the game would ever see, in respect to who he was. He is proven time and again with elite support. Cam Newton said.

Cam Newton never shies away from making controversial takes

It is proven that Cam Newton is not scared about making controversial takes even after he was slammed by others after the take on Brock Purdy. Last year, he made a claim that the quarterback was a game-manager and not a game-changer. It was received with a massive controversy from multiple ends.

Explaining further about his game-changer comments bringing up Brock Purdy, Dak Prescott, and Jared Goff, Newton was defiant in standing by his take.

They’re not difference-makers,” Newton said. “[They’re being asked] not to lose. … I don’t give a damn what you do. You don’t have to score every time. You just don’t have to throw a pick every time either. If we’re going to call a spade a spade, a game manager is different than a game-changer. Cam Newton said on his channel in February

Despite hyping Tom Brady over Mahomes, Newton felt that Mahomes could be called a game manager who could easily turn games around. It is worth noting that Mahomes still has a long way to go in his career.
