There’s no question how impressive Luka Doncic has been on the court. But after a Michael Jordan-like performance against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Dallas Mavericks star has made jaws drop once again.
Just recently, the Mavs tied their series against the Los Angeles Clippers with a score of 96-93. In Game 2, Doncic put on a marvelous show by dropping 32 points, six rebounds, and nine assists 45 minutes on the court. Kyrie Irving made 23 points on 50 percent shooting from deep, while PJ Washington talied 18 points and six rebounds.
Unlike in Game 1, the Clippers had Kawhi Leonard on the court as the two-time NBA champion notched 15 points, seven rebounds, and four steals. James Harden and Paul George finished the game with 22 points each, while Ivica Zubac made a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Even with Leonard present in the lineup, the Clippers were unable to prevent Doncic and the Mavs from winning Game 2. The series will not shift to Dallas’ home court and the chance to take the lead now lies on the Mavericks’ shoulders.
Dallas Mavericks Star Luka Doncic Achieve Michael Jordan-like Stat After Game 2 Win Against the Los Angeles Clippers
After the game, Doncic was discovered to have put up a performance worthy of Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan. In a post shared by StatMuse on X:
“Players to average 30/5/5 in the playoffs:
Michael Jordan Luka Doncic
That’s the list,” StatMuse tweeted.
Over the course of 70 games this season, the Mavericks’ All-Star guard averaged 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, 9.8 assists, and 1.4 steals per contest. He also connected 48 percent of his field goals, 38 percent from beyond the arc, and 78 percent from the free throw line.
On the other hand, Michael Jordan won a total of six rings during his time with the Bulls. The first three-peat occured during the early 90s, while the second run happened in the latter part of the decade.
To be put in the same level as MJ is certainly a big honor for Doncic. And with the chance to take the lead agains the Clippers, the Mavs star can do more to reach His Airness in the coming weeks.
