OXNARD (KLTV) – A surprise reunion happened in pre-season camp for DeMarvion Overshown when a childhood friend from Overton came to visit the Dallas Cowboy star.
Jamal Lester has been a friend of Overshown since they were kids.
“My dad coached me and him when we were growing up. Pop Warner days, elementary school days. Honestly been my brother the longest way,” said Lester.
When DeMarvion was drafted two years ago by the Cowboys, the East Texan’s love and pride flowed through him for the remarkable achievement of his closest friend.
“I was extremely happy for him. I got the chance to call him because I am stationed out here. Just seeing how excited he was meant the world to me and everybody around you know, ” said Lester.
If he had it his way, however, Overshown would have been in Philadelphia.
“Me personally I’m an Eagles fan. He should’ve went to Philly, but I’m not going to be too loud, cause I know where I’m at. So we support ‘Demo’ and the other guys you know they good to see,” said Lester.
But the east Texas pride is a brand, one that Overshown and Lester are pushing though they wear different uniforms.
