Detroіt Lіonѕ LB ѕoundѕ off on аtһleteѕ pаyіng tһeіr fаіr ѕһаre

Nobody is going to cry for professional athletes who make a lot of money, but it is worth noting that they are beholden to paying taxes like the rest of us, something Detroit Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone sounded off on recently.

Anzalone spotted a post from X account “ML Football” that showed how much Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown will actually take home in the first year of his new deal that he recently signed, which will come in 2025.

Ross: Lions made best draft-day trade of any team in ’24 ‘Path to the Draft’

NFL Network’s Marc Ross: Detroit Lions made best draft-day trade of any team in ’24.

The post led to Anzalone reminding us all of the difference between being a business owner and an employee, while also noting how professional athletes pay their fair share.

“The difference between athletes and business owners,” Anzalone wrote. “Business owners can get away without paying through write offs, claims of losses, etc. We’re just typical W2 workers and can’t write off anything worthwhile. Can’t say we don’t pay our fair share!”

Granted, St. Brown is still taking home an amount of money that us mere mortals could only dream of, but it’s hard to not gasp when you see how much the government is taking out of his paycheck.
