Early Eagles training camp signs point toward CB Kelee Ringo potentially starting in 2024

The Philadelphia Eagles have only had a few practices but the early signs have shown that second-year cornerback Kelee Ringo could potentially start opposite Darius Slay in 2024.

According to multiple reports, Ringo has taken first-team reps and shined so far.

This comes by no surprise considering Ringo was a standout throughout the Eagles mandatory minicamp back in June.

Earning the starting job won’t be an easy task for Ringo as he’s competing against 13 other cornerbacks, including 2024 first-round draft pick Quinyon Mitchell and veteran Isaiah Rogers, who have also received rave reviews so far.

Ringo, however, has been enjoying the competition battle.

“We’re all teammates at the end of the day,” Ringo said of the competition, via CBS Sports. “We just want to continue to help each other get better. I feel like that’s our main focus, just, help each other get better, bring out the best of each other, especially (because) we’re all competitive.”

The Eagles’ former fourth-round pick of the 2023 NFL Draft from Georgia played in all 17 games with four starts last year, logging one interception, one sack, 21 tackles, and two pass breakups.

He’s convinced this year will look a lot better.

“I would definitely say I’m a much better football player than I was then,” Ringo said. “You know, just having more experiences being out there in games. I know a lot more what the game looks like now. So I feel like just having that experience and putting that foot forward, definitely helps me a lot.”

We’ll continue to follow along with the Eagles’ most exciting camp battle and get a better feel for how things are shaking out when they play their first preseason game on Friday, Aug. 9 against the Baltimore Ravens.
