Floyd Mayweather is still one of the most respected names in boxing despite now having been retired from professional fighting since 2017.
His final fight was arguably the beginning of the crossover era as he took on former UFC champion and boxing debutant Conor McGregor and easily dispatched him via knockout to end his career with a record of 50 wins, no losses and no draws.
Since then he has moved into promoting fighters like Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and has continued to have exhibition fights, often in the Far East. He has also shared plenty of views on the current crop of boxing talent.
Mayweather was recently asked by the Mail Online to pick the outcome of several prime fantasy fights in which the winner stays on. First up he picked Mike Tyson to beat Frank Bruno, and was then asked to choose between Tyson and Vitali Klitschko and went with the Ukrainian to come out on top.
“Vitali Klitschko.”
Klitschko was a long-reining champion who held the WBC belt from 2004 to his retirement in 2013. He picked up the title in his second fight after a defeat to the great Lennox Lewis earlier the year before.
That contest was stopped because of a savage cut above Klitschko’s eye and though he chased Lewis for a rematch, the undisputed champion hung up his gloves and was never to return to the ring again.
Klitschko went on to beat the likes of Samuel Peter, Shannon Briggs, Derek Chisora and Mahmoud Charr in his final fight before getting into politics and becoming the Mayor of Kyiv in Ukraine.
