Their diligent search has landed them former NBA forward Malik Fitts. The six-foot-eight, 27-year-old wing spent two seasons in the Association, suiting up for the Los Angeles Clippers, Utah Jazz, and most recently, the Boston Celtics.

Fitts appeared in eight games with the latter in 2021-22 and was there for the Celtics’ run to the NBA Finals that season. He averaged 1.9 points and nearly one rebound per contest in 3.5 minutes of floor time. He also played in nine postseason tilts with Boston.

The former Saint Mary’s star has played in the G League since then. Fitts produced 8.6 points and grabbed 4.7 rebounds in 25 games with the Cavaliers’ G League affiliate, the Cleveland Charge, last season.

Sporting Director Nicola Alberani said of SIG Strasbourg acquiring Fitts, “With this signing, we are adding an interesting piece to our puzzle. We were looking for a great 3 position who can switch to 4 and give (us) a physical dimension that we lacked last season.”

Coach Laurent Vila added: “He is a player who has good qualities both in attack and defense and who has a very interesting physique. He’s going to bring us drives, three points, and defensively, he has a good volume of play and is present on the rebound.

“We had several exchanges with him to present him the project for the season and to talk about his as well; this signing is a turning point in his career that he wants to negotiate as best as possible. We looked at a lot of players for this position, but Malik’s qualities and, especially, his determination really seduced us. The team is now complete, and we can’t wait to meet again at the beginning of August to get to know each other and start working to prepare for the season.”
