It’s no secret that the Minnesota Vikings are in a position to trade up for a quarterback. They traded up from the second round to get a second first-round pick at 23rd overall to have more ammunition to go get that player.

Former GM expects Vikings to overpay in trade-up for QB
What the Vikings will have to pay has been up for discussion. There have been trades in all spectrums with ones that have the Vikings winning and losing, along with the extreme of trading wide receiver Justin Jefferson.
On his podcast With the First Pick, former Vikings general manager Rick Spielman believes that the Vikings aren’t just going to overpay in a trade, but do so in trading for Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
“They’re (the Vikings) going to have to give (picks 11 and 23) and their 2025 first, plus some more draft capital. I think J.J. (McCarthy) will be a good pro, but Minnesota will overpay to get him. At this point, they don’t have a choice (given their current QB room).”
Will that come to fruition for the Vikings and whoever they trade with? That remains to be seen, but if it works for the Vikings, nobody will care how much that price is.
