Freddie Freeman’s son Maximus released from ICU after Guillain-Barré diagnosis

Los Angeles Dodgers star Freddie Freeman and his wife Chelsea announced on Instagram that their son Maximus has been released from ICU.

Freddie Freeman Son Released From ICU After Guillain-Barré Syndrome Diagnosis

Maximus was recently hospitalized after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, which is a rare neurological disorder.

He spent eight days in Pediatric ICU before being released. Chelsea Freeman and Freddie Freeman recently shared a joint statement about their son on Instagram.

“After 8 long days in the Pediatric ICU we are officially HOME! Max still has a long road ahead of him to regain his strength and relearn how to walk. But we are so thankful to have our family back together,” the post reads. “Thank you God for this miracle. Also, thank you to our incredible team of doctors and angel nurses for taking such good care of our boy. And to our village for helping so much with Charlie and Brandon.”

Last week, Chelsea Freeman and Freddie Freeman posted on Instagram that Maximus: “rapidly declined and went into full body paralysis.”

Freddie Freeman and the Dodgers were playing in Houston when Maximus started showing symptoms and ended up being taken to the hospital. Freddie flew home to rejoin his family in Los Angeles. He was placed on the family emergency list on July 27 and has not appeared in a game since July 26.

Freddie Freeman is currently in his third season with the Dodgers, after previously starring with the Atlanta Braves.

The 34-year-old is an eight-time all-star, which includes this season. Thus far in 2024 he is hitting .288 with 16 home runs and 67 RBIs.

Freeman helped the Braves to a World Series championship in 2021, which was his last season in Atlanta. He was also named the 2020 NL MVP.

He is a part of a loaded Dodgers lineup, which includes Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Will Smith. Betts is currently sidelined after suffering a broken wrist back in June.

Still, the Dodgers are currently 65-47 and have a 4.5 game lead in the NL West. Los Angeles is without a doubt one of the favorites to win the World Series this fall.

Los Angeles is beginning a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday. The games will be played in Los Angeles. It will be interesting to see if Freddie Freeman is able to return for any of the games. Either way, it is excellent news that his son Maximus is back home from the hospital.
