Groin injury for Packers RB Josh Jacobs considered minor

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs didn’t practice on Thursday, but the veteran isn’t concerned about his new groin injury. In fact, he wouldn’t even say it’s a legitimate injury.

“I wouldn’t call it an injury. It’s not really an injury, it’s more so just tweaked it a little bit. If we were to have a game today, I’d definitely be playing. Could have practiced today even,” Jacobs said Thursday.

Several other veterans got a rest day on Thursday, including Preston Smith, Rashan Gary, Kenny Clark and Elgton Jenkins. Jacobs said the Packers were being extra cautious and held him out of practice to make sure a “tweak” didn’t become something more significant.

Jacobs wasn’t sure if he’d be practicing during Family Night on Saturday night, but he’s certain he’ll want to once he feels the atmosphere at Lambeau Field.

“I don’t know exactly what the plans are,” Jacobs said. “I don’t know. I feel like I’m going to feel the atmosphere and all that and I’m going to want to do everything. It’s only August 1st, so we’ll see how it goes.”

Jacobs said, had the decision been up to him, he would have practiced on Thursday.

Jacobs had a minor hamstring injury during the offseason workout program but missed limited time. He was fully healthy to start training camp.
