Reddick is in the midst of a training camp holdout, after skipping the team’s offseason program. According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, the Jets have already fined Reddick $950,000 this offseason.
Meanwhile, there is seemingly no progress being made between the two sides when it comes to a possible long-term contract extension that the 29-year-old has been seeking dating back to even prior to him being traded by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Reddick, who posted 11 sacks last season, his third straight year eclipsing double-digits, is set to play out the final year of his current contract for $14.25 million while counting $15 million against the cap for the Jets.
If Reddick continues to skip out on mandatory training camp practices, he’ll continue to accrue a $50,000 per-day fine.
Haason Reddick’s Best Fit if New York Jets Trade Him
The longer Reddick stays away from the team, the more plausible it becomes that general manager Joe Douglas and head coach Robert Saleh start to question if his impact on an already elite defense is worth the frustration.
While Reddick will likely be the focal point of New York’s pass rush, there are several teams that would make sense should the Jets ultimately decide to cut their losses and trade him.
One current NFL scout tells me that the Denver Broncos make the most sense for Reddick.
The Broncos have both the requisite cap space ($29.6 million in 2025 and $169 million in 2026) to accommodate a long-term extension for Reddick, and a glaring need for a productive veteran pass rusher to benefit from the chaos triggered by the Jets acquiring the 31-year-old without first agreeing to a reworked deal.
Reddick has a Super Bowl appearance on his resumè and 58.5 career sacks to play a vital role as a leader and playmaker on a rebuilt defense, though time will tell if the Jets wind up seriously considering moving on.
