For Jax Taylor, life without his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, has not been a bed of roses.
The “Vanderpump Rules” alum recently checked himself into a rehabilitation facility, a decision that comes months after his separation from his longtime partner made waves.
Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s estrangement sparked concerns about their marriage amid nasty fights and infidelity speculations.
Jax Taylor Focuses On His Mental Health Away From Brittany Cartwright
News of Taylor’s rehab stay came through his rep, who noted the 45-year-old has been struggling with his mental health following his split from Cartwright. In the source’s words:
“Jax has always been candid about his mental health struggles, especially during the past few months on his [When Reality Hits] podcast. He has made the decision to seek in-patient treatment.”
“This is a particularly sensitive time for him and his family. They ask for privacy and respect until he is ready to speak more on this matter,” Taylor’s rep told ET.
Taylor and Cartwright announced their split in February, months after repeated fights and arguments were captured on their VPR spinoff, “The Valley.” Fans watched their marriage crumble on the show’s season 1 finale.
Taylor And Cartwright Address The Reasons Behind Their Separation
When things were rosy, Taylor and Cartwright said their vows in 2019 and welcomed a son, Cruz, in 2021. While some speculate their relationship soured because of unfaithfulness, Taylor refuted the claims in “The Valley.”
“There’s no affairs, there’s no cheating, there’s no abuse, there’s none of that. I’m so triggered. My fuse is this big,” Taylor told his pal, Jason Caperna. His estranged wife echoed similar sentiments in her conversation with cameras, saying:
“We were already having issues all summer long, but once the cameras stopped rolling, things seemed like they were getting worse and worse and worse and worse.”
Cartwright Moved Out After A Heated Fight
According to Cartwright, she decided to leave Taylor after an explosive argument where he allegedly screamed at her for hours. She slammed him for making her leave their home, saying:
“About six weeks ago, I separated from Jax. I moved into an Airbnb with Cruz because Jax would not leave the house. I just feel like that shows how selfish Jax is.”
“The fact that I had to move out with Cruz instead of him moving out. Especially being from Kentucky, a man doesn’t do that,” Cartwright continued, adding:
“I just kind of hit this point where I started noticing everything that he did to me. It just hit me like a ton of bricks or something. And then I was just kind of like, ‘What am I doing? Why am I here?'”
Jax Taylor Seemingly Implied Cartwright Had Another Man
Months after their split, Taylor revealed in May that he and Cartwright had agreed to see other people amid their separation. However, he seemingly implied his estranged wife found another lover months earlier.
The following month, Taylor claimed Cartwright had been sleeping with someone else for four months on X. However, he deleted the tweet shortly after dropping it.
In July, The Blast reported that Taylor wasn’t interested in dating anyone amid his separation from Cartwright. When asked about his relationship status, he stressed that his priorities were all about his family.
Taylor’s decision to focus on family seemed to be his way of keeping the door open for Cartwright’s return. However, when asked if the pair hoped to reconcile, he sounded uncertain, repeatedly saying: “I don’t know.”
The Estranged Couple Fought Over A ‘The Valley’ Co-star
The Blast reported that Cartwright opened up about the fight that led to her estrangement from Taylor. She addressed the matter in April on an episode of “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen.
Cartwright told the host the pair fought over her outing with “The Valley” co-star Kristen Doute. She claimed Taylor was upset the following day and made up “a story in his own head and started a fight about something that never happened.”
“It got to the point where we fought about everything…it could be about anything at that point. It was just a very toxic situation that I felt like I needed to remove myself from,” Cartwright lamented.
With Jax Taylor working on his mental health in rehab, could he become the understanding man Brittany Cartwright wants, or will they end down the divorce route?
