Lizzo says she’s quitting music amid harassment claims: ‘My character being picked apart’

Lizzo is not feeling good as Hell.

The Grammy winner, who is currently the subject of a sexual harassment lawsuit, seemingly quit the music industry via an Instagram post she shared Friday night.

“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet,” she began her emotional statement. “All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.”

“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views … my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name,” she further lamented.

She concluded, “I didn’t sign up for this s–t — I QUIT.”

Page Six did not immediately hear back from Lizzo’s representatives regarding the head-turning post.

Her statement came shortly after attorneys for her former backup dancers — Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez — slammed her for performing at a re-election fundraiser for President Biden Thursday evening.

“It’s shameful that Lizzo would be chosen to headline an event like this amid such egregious allegations,” Ron Zambrano told NewsNation. “Without getting into the politics, I can’t imagine why anyone would want Lizzo representing them in any way given her reprehensible behavior. It’s just a terrible look.”

Davis, Rodriguez and Williams sued the “Truth Hurts” singer in August 2023 for creating a toxic work environment and sexual harassment.

In one instance of harassment that allegedly occurred in Amsterdam’s Red Light District, the suit claimed “Lizzo began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas.”

Davis also claimed she was “pressured” by Lizzo to fondle a nude performer’s breasts. She further alleged she was shamed for gaining weight by the musician.

Hours after the lawsuit became public, Lizzo’s former creative director Quinn Whitney Wilson and dancer Courtney Hollinquest claimed they were subject to similar situations.

Then, documentarian Sophia Nahli alleged she “walked away” from working with Lizzo after two weeks because she was “treated with such disrespect.”

The Emmy winner has maintained her innocence, calling the allegations “outrageous” in a lengthy statement she shared on social media on Aug. 3, 2023.

“I am very open with my sexuality and expressing myself but I cannot accept or allow people to use that openness to make me out to be something I am not,” she asserted. “There is nothing I take more seriously than the respect we deserve as women in the world.”

And although Lizzo threatened to countersue, the allegations kept coming. In September 2023, Asha Daniels, who previously worked in the wardrobe department for the singer’s 2023 tour, filed a lawsuit that accused her of turning a blind eye to a verbally and physically abusive manager.

While the accusations are certainly shocking, not everyone feels Lizzo has acted in such inappropriate ways.

Eighteen of her employees signed declarations supporting the pop star that disputed the harassment claims in October 2023.

Several months later, Lizzo appeared in good spirits as she presented at the 2024 Grammys.
