While some may argue that the Purple and Gold’s offseason has been one of the worst in recent memory, having two Olympic gold medalists on the roster would boost a team that is hungry to make a deep postseason run.

While the team’s schedule for the coming regular season hasn’t been revealed yet, some of the marquee games this season already have games slated. The Lakers are one of the teams playing on Christmas Day, and their opponents will have James playing against a long-time rival and friend.

The Los Angeles Lakers will face the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day

East Bay Times’ Khoby Prince writes about the league’s scheduled games on Christmas. Ten teams would be playing on this day, with the most interesting being the Los Angeles Lakers-Golden State Warriors matchup.

The biggest reason why this game is intriguing has everything to do with LeBron James and Stephen Curry’s relationship. While they spent a long time being rivals during the mid-late 2010s, their time together in Team USA showcased a dynamic that hadn’t been seen before from two of the greatest players ever to pick up the sport.

It will be interesting to see how the two squads—both of which are still trying to build their respective rosters—would play on one of the biggest days of the regular-season calendar.

The other Christmas Day games are just as exciting as the Lakers-Warriors clash

While the Lakers-Warriors clash is the biggest game on Christmas, the other Yuletide games promise equally exciting action from the league’s biggest stars.

The biggest young star will play under Broadway’s bright lights as Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs are slated to face Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks. The 2024 Western Conference Finals will witness a rematch as the Minnesota Timberwolves will visit the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center.

The reloaded Philadelphia 76ers will try to take down the Boston Celtics in what many would consider the marquee Eastern Conference matchup. Meanwhile, Nikola Jokic and his Denver Nuggets are headed south to Phoenix to face another gold medal-winning duo in Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
