Miami Dolphins' training camp standouts per Omar Kelly - The Phinsider

MIAMI GARDENS – With the Miami Dolphins scheduled to participate in joint practices with the Atlanta Falcons today, some camp breakout players can increase their stock with a big performance over the next few days.

With most NFL camps, limited information and videos are visible to the public regarding who’s playing well and who’s not. Unfortunately, there is no All-22 for training camp, so we are limited to the videos the team puts out (barely anything), videos that fans get from the stands, and the eyes and ears of Miami-beat reporters.

Miami Herald sports columnist Omar Kelly has been at training camp every day and in the trenches of X, putting out constant information and answering many fan’s questions.

One of the questions on most fan’s minds is who are the players that are sticking out, and who are the best performers so far? Kelly went ahead and posted his top ten performers of camp so far:

My first thought of this list is that it’s got a perfect top four. Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Jalen Ramsey are four of the Dolphins core players, and that’s who you want to see up there, especially when three of them just got new deals done and have no complacency with them. Ramsey seems to be on a mission to reclaim the number one corner overall spot that eluded him the last few years. Jevon Holland is another core player who looks to continue his trajectory into an All-Pro nod. He’s looking to get a new deal so we might see his best year as a pro in 2024.

The biggest surprise on this list has to be outside linebacker Quinton Bell. Bell is a complete project who was on the practice squad last year but is finally seeing a real opportunity to show his stuff, and he’s turning heads. He even sported the orange jersey yesterday.

Three edge players on this list are huge for the Dolphins, especially when that position looked bare at the beginning of the offseason. Chop Robinson has shown flashes of star potential, Emmanuel Ogbah hasn’t skipped a beat since returning, and even more comfortable in Anthony Weaver’s defense.

Another standout who leaped forward in camp is Ethan Bonner. He’s had the physical tools to be an impactful corner, but the shift in confidence this year seems to be the missing piece in putting together his best work. Corner looks to be one of the deepest positions on the team, especially if Bonner can be a solid contributor.

One player that I’ll never be surprised to see on a list like this is Jeff Wilson Jr. With a team of lightning, his thunder brings a different dynamic to the offense. Hard runs in the interior are something this offense has shifted away from when it’s needed most.

Wilson Jr. being healthy and getting big first downs run situationally, like he did last year against the Dallas Cowboys, will be needed late in the year in those cold weather games the Dolphins have scheduled.

The Dolphins have a joint practice today to measure where they’re at right now, and the players listed will have tons of eyes on them, so let’s see if they can put the NFL on notice.
