Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul: Latest predictions, news and odds for Netflix bout

“Iron” Mike Tyson is set to make his stunning return to boxing this summer in a fight against “The Problem Child” Jake Paul. The two have jawed, bickered, and posted training videos trying to intimidate their opponent for some time now. However, much about the fight is still unknown, or rather, unconfirmed.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson: Predictions, odds and latest news for fight

The rules, stipulations, and official designation for the fight have been a huge area of discussion for the fight. While some parties initially claimed the fight would be an official match, other parties have since come forward to say it will be an exhibition. The designation for this fight is not the only legitimacy being bickered about. Some professional fighters find the fact that a 27-year-old will fighting someone long-retired and 30 years older than him despicable. Still, that has not dispelled any interest in the fight.

Here is the latest news, predictions, and odds for the upcoming bout.

Predictions for Tyson-Paul:

Roy Jones Jr.: Jake Paul will not be able to withstand a hit from Tyson

While doing an interview with Shane Mosley’s YouTube channel, Jones, who fought Tyson in an exhibition match in 2020, said “The first time he hit me in the chest, it felt like a mule had kicked me in the chest.” He continued, “I don’t think [Jake Paul]’s going to be able to take that. It might hit him on the chin like that, we’ll see, but it’s going to be tough.”

Shane Mosley: Jake Paul will impress

In a recent post on X, Sugar Shane Mosley voiced his admiration for Jake Paul’s dedication to bulking up for the fight against Mike Tyson.

While Mosley did not make any statement about whether Paul would win the fight, he is clearly impressed with Paul, and perhaps he is starting to lean in Paul’s direction after leaning Tyson heavily when the fight was announced.

Tyson must still undergo tests before the fight can be legitimized

Per reports, promoters on both sides of the Tyson-Paul fight have recently been served reminders from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) that Tyson will still need to “undergo tests” before the fight can be confirmed, since he is over the age of 36. The TDLR says that “Tyson must submit an electroencephalogram (EEG) and an electrocardiogram (EKG) exam before he can compete.”

The point of these tests is to determine whether or not Tyson is still healthy enough to fight in the first place. TDLR communications manager Tela Mange also stated: “We can also request additional testing if we think it’s appropriate.”

As of now, there is still potential for the fight to be canceled. While it is common for a fight, or other event, to be requested months in advance without initially offering a full plan of what is to happen, promoters for the Tyson-Paul fight have until 21 days before the fight to detail everything that is planned.

Tyson-Paul odds:

Although odds for the fight had been offered by DraftKings sportsbook oddsmaker, Johnny Avello, back in March, updated odds have not been provided since. The latest odds from the sportsbook at the time of writing are:

  • Jake Paul (-360)
  • Mike Tyson (+300)

Although other sites are offering odds as low as -170 for Paul.

How to watch Tyson-Paul:

The fight is scheduled for Saturday, July 20, 2024, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event will be available to stream on Netflix.
