New Dolphins WR addresses past critical social media post about Tua Tagovailoa

Veteran wideout Willie Snead IV signed with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday, giving quarterback Tua Tagovailoa yet another experienced pass-catching option.

New Dolphins WR addresses past critical social media post about Tagovailoa

Snead was asked on Thursday about a January social media post in which he criticized his now-teammate and told reporters that he and Tagovailoa were all good.

In the since-deleted message, Snead wrote “The Dolphins will be good when Tua stop acting soft AF.” This came on Jan. 13, when the former Alabama signal-caller went just 20-of-39 for 199 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception in Miami’s 26-7 road playoff loss against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“To be honest, I was watching the game, I’m a fan of the game, and I was rooting for the Dolphins that game,” Snead said. “I wanted the Dolphins to get past the Chiefs and I was emotional about it, and I tweeted something I probably shouldn’t have, and I regret it today. But me and Tua talked last night, worked on a handshake and we already completed one pass in one-on-ones, so we put that behind us. We kind of talked about it we’re moving on from it and I’m just excited to be a Dolphin.”

Snead joins a crowded Miami wide receiver room that’s led by eight-time Pro Bowler Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, who’s recorded at least 100 targets and 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons.

The Dolphins also added three-time Pro Bowler Odell Beckham Jr. in early May, though OBJ is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Snead hasn’t reached 50 targets, 35 catches or 500 receiving yards since 2018, but he has six games of playoff experience over a four-season span with the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens from 2017-2020.
